Email not working

Hi

I have tried several tests of the email command, such as:

 ./vertical email --tls --test servername 587 username password from to

I have tried all the ports for my server (25, 465, 587) and tried with and without tls.

No message ever gets through.

There’s no message from vertical backup as to whether it worked or failed, and I can’t find any log files.

How can I diagnose what is going on with this?

If the command does produce a success or failure message, then I suspect it is because the outgoing smtp port is still blocked by the firewall. Remove /etc/vmware/firewall/verticalbackupemail.xml and try again.
