Failed to connect to the license server: EOF occurred in violation of protocol

Anyone else ever received this error while trying to activate Vertical Backup? “EOF occurred in violation of protocol”.

Looks like it’s having an SSL issue talking to the license server. My server time is pretty spot on.

It was working fine for a while, until I had to restore everything (was testing my backup solution) and tried to activate Vertical Backup again once everything was back up:

./vertical license activate
Vertical Backup 1.1.5

Failed to connect to the license server: EOF occurred in violation of protocol (_ssl.c:661)

For future reference, looks like I had to re-initialize Vertical Backup. I ran “vertical init” with the same settings. Looks like the outgoing firewall rule wans’t created properly.

I also updated from 1.1.5 to 1.2.0 beforehand just to be safe.
